Getting there requires strategic actions and investments but contemplate the journey; what kind of analysis performed by whom is required to know which actions are preferable? At the risk of sounding judgmental, there is a certain logic that motivates players in the consulting market. As the saying goes, to a hammer, every problem is a nail. The same pattern will characterize ventilation, plumbing, solar panels, you name it.
A human being hears your need, looks at your property and starts his work assisted by a computer. It is at this point in our story that there is a twist. Let’s tell you about nolla_E – the player that challenges the role of the classic energy consultant.
Half consultant, half magician
nolla_E is an energy consultant, but given what you’re about to learn, the word feels a little flimsy. Because nolla_E has a unique tool at its disposal, an AI model designed to change the market. Instead of a human being assisted by a computer, this is a computer assisted by a human being. Here’s how it works…
The reasons are too many to count – you want to make your property more energy efficient. nolla_E is contacted and within no time all the necessary data is collected. As a Mestro customer, this will of course mean that we send your high-resolution data. nolla_E also dispatches someone out to the property to carefully study its design. Structure, architecture, plumbing and electrical diagrams, everything that can be known about the given property. Every centimeter needs to match the drawings and if not, the file is corrected. This data is then fed into the AI model and then the curtain rises – the show can begin.
The analysis model starts processing the data, plowing through just over 30,000 different combinations of measures, in order to find the best recommendation based on the specific property’s technical building conditions – the actual answer to how to reduce your energy consumption. The combined data power analyses all parts of a building’s energy flows – simultaneously.
Ventilation, windows, doors, roofs, thermal bridges, air leakage, external walls, air flows… All these become data points in a machine built for one thing and one thing only – to find the optimal combination of measures to reduce energy use. The final product is a summary of the analysis together with a set of recommendations which the customer is free to use as they see fit. In other words, the customer is completely disconnected from nolla_E after delivery, free to choose a supplier to address the problems highlighted in nolla_E’s analysis. The only difference is that the measures are now placed in a hierarchical order of combinations where the logic is not dictated by an individual consultant’s experience or incentives – but the property’s.
nolla_E also takes into account the client’s available budget, the capital they are willing to invest in their efficiency project. Why? nolla_E will adapt the proposed measures to this amount and thus ensure that the analysis results in realistic measures.
And just like that…
As good as it sounds, nolla_E is not a theoretical project, a mind game conceivedto scare the consultant with a notepad in hand. With clients in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Malta, Estonia, the Maldives and more, nolla_E has a string of examples of its own success. Two apartment buildings in Turku have been able to reduce their energy consumption by 77% after consultation. A school in Rusko has made financial savings of SEK 140,000 per year.
